VILLAQUA Pink is a dry rosé sparkling wine from Hiroshima Miyoshi Winery, produced under VILLAQUA — the playful, everyday-drinking second line that sits alongside the winery's flagship TOMOE range. The name is a coined word blending "VILLA" (village) and "AQUA" (water), an allusion to Miyoshi's own etymology as the 'village where three rivers meet,' and VILLAQUA channels the same terroir into a more approachable, celebration-ready format. Made from a Merlot and Syrah base and finished using the traditional method (secondary fermentation in bottle), it shows a vivid pink hue and fine, persistent bubbles. The nose offers bright strawberry and cherry fruit with a touch of meringue and yellow peach, while the palate is dry with balanced acidity and a gentle roundness on the finish. It was awarded Bronze in the Sparkling Wine category at the Japan Wine Competition 2024. Unlike TOMOE Miyoshi Rosé — the winery's still, Merlot-Syrah rosé from the main TOMOE line — VILLAQUA Pink takes a similar red-fruit-driven blend and gives it bottle-fermented bubbles, positioning it as the more festive, gift-friendly counterpart within the producer's rosé lineup.

Sommelier's Note

VILLAQUA Pink proves Miyoshi's Merlot-Syrah rosé blend works just as well with bubbles as it does still — a lively, celebratory expression of the same red-fruit DNA found in TOMOE Miyoshi Rosé.
