Omogawa Koshu is a single-vineyard bottling from Enzan Wine, the family-run winery in Koshu City, Yamanashi led by third-generation winemaker Koki Hagiwara. The wine takes its name from the Omogawa River (重川), which runs through Koshu City near the winery, and is made entirely from Koshu grapes grown in Enzan's own estate vineyard along its banks. Fermented at low temperature in stainless steel and bottled with minimal filtration, it shows a pale straw color with aromas of pear, citrus and green apple, framed by crisp acidity and a clean, dry finish. Produced in limited quantities and released irregularly (vintages from the early 2010s through 2024 have appeared on the market), the 2015 vintage won Bronze in the Koshu Dry category at the Japan Wine Competition 2016.

Sommelier's Note

Lighter and more straightforward than the winery's flagship SALZ BERG, Omogawa Koshu distills the variety's crisp, food-friendly character into a simple, well-made bottle — the 2015 vintage earned Bronze at the Japan Wine Competition, proof of its quality despite its modest presentation.

New to wine?

A clean, straightforward expression of Koshu's crisp acidity — an easy, food-friendly introduction to Japanese white wine.

Food Pairings

Excellent with tempura, nigiri sushi and salt-grilled river fish — its bright acidity cuts through richness and complements dashi-based dishes. Best served chilled at 8-10°C (46-50°F).

When to drink it

Everyday meals centered on Japanese cuisine, especially tempura and river fish dishes. Limited production means it's worth grabbing when available.
