Satsuki Nagane Riesling Lion is Edelwein's long-running single-vineyard white wine, made from 100% Riesling Lion grapes grown in the winery's own Satsuki Nagane vineyard in Osako, Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture. Riesling Lion is a Japanese hybrid grape (Riesling × Koshu Sanjaku) registered in 1975 and particularly suited to Iwate's climate. First released in 1986, this off-dry white has been produced every year since, with the 2025 vintage marking its 41st release. Fresh aromas of green apple and grapefruit lead into a wine with balanced acidity and fruit depth, further layered by four months of sur lie aging before bottling.

Sommelier's Note

First released in 1986 and produced every vintage since, Satsuki Nagane Riesling Lion is Edelwein's flagship expression of a truly Iwate-grown grape — a benchmark for how far Japanese hybrid varieties can go in a single vineyard's hands.
