Created to commemorate UNESCO's registration of the traditional 'Hayachine Kagura' dance as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, this semi-sweet white wine is made from grapes grown in Ohasama, Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture — the very region where the Kagura tradition originates at the foot of Mt. Hayachine. A blend built around Riesling Lion, Edelwein's signature white grape, together with Müller-Thurgau, it offers bright aromas of apple, white peach, and pineapple balanced by gentle acidity, making it an easy, approachable pour.
Built around Edelwein's flagship Riesling Lion grape, this bottle shows how a Kitakami Basin white can be both culturally rooted and effortlessly drinkable — a fitting tribute to the Hayachine Kagura it honors.
New to wine?
A gentle, fruit-forward entry point into Japanese wine — its light sweetness and soft acidity make it easy to enjoy even for those who find dry whites too sharp.
Food Pairings
Its gentle sweetness and citrus-apple brightness pair well with creamy dishes such as gratin, fruit salads, and mild curries. With Japanese food, it complements tempura, aburaage (fried tofu), and dishes seasoned with dashi and soy that call for a fruit-forward, low-tannin white.
When to drink it
Great for casual weeknight dinners, celebratory toasts, or as a gift that carries the cultural story of Iwate's UNESCO-listed Hayachine Kagura.
Terroir & Winemaking
Grown in Ohasama's cool, dry climate with significant diurnal temperature swings; a Riesling Lion / Müller-Thurgau blend vinified in a semi-sweet style at 9.5% ABV, bottled at 720ml.
