Muscat Bailey A Nouveau is Diamond Winery's (Chanter Wine's) autumn-release red nouveau, made from Japan's signature Muscat Bailey A grape grown in Katsunuma, Koshu, Yamanashi. Like all nouveau wines, it is released each year as the season's first taste of the new harvest, alongside the winery's companion Koshu Nouveau (white) and other nouveau bottlings. It shows the variety's characteristic strawberry-candy aromatics in a light-bodied, fresh, low-tannin style meant to be enjoyed young.
The Muscat Bailey A counterpart to Chanter's Koshu Nouveau — this is the red side of Diamond Winery's autumn nouveau duo, and the most approachable way to taste the season's new Muscat Bailey A harvest.
New to wine?
A gentle, low-tannin red that's an easy first step into Japanese Muscat Bailey A wines.
Food Pairings
A versatile, easy-drinking nouveau that pairs well with light appetizers, grilled chicken (yakitori with tare sauce), and soy-glazed home cooking.
When to drink it
Best enjoyed in autumn shortly after release, at casual gatherings or with everyday home cooking.
Terroir & Winemaking
As a nouveau-style red, it is vinified for early drinking — typically short maceration to emphasize fresh fruit character with soft, restrained tannins — and bottled shortly after harvest without extended aging. Released annually each autumn as the new vintage; not intended for long-term cellaring.
