About this wine
Part of Cave de Turckheim's terroir range, sourced from the sandy, gravel and pebble soils ("sables et galets") around the Herrenweg lieu-dit near Turckheim and Wintzenheim — deposits swept down by melting Vosges glaciers. These soils give an elegant, aromatic bouquet: a complex nose of acacia honey, quince and warm spice, with apricot, honey and sultana richness on the palate, balanced by well-judged acidity and a pithy finish.
A rich, honeyed style of Pinot Gris that shows why the grape is a house specialty in Alsace — full-bodied but balanced, never cloying.
Sommelier's Note
"This is Pinot Gris with a sense of place — the sandy Herrenweg terroir gives it a smoky lift that separates it from the fruitier, more generic bottlings out there."
Food Pairings
Its smoky, powerful character from the sandy Herrenweg soils works brilliantly with smoked fish and rich white meat dishes, as well as spiced or slightly sweet preparations.
When to drink it
Autumn dinners, richer seafood or poultry dishes

- How does terroir affect this wine's style?
- The free-draining sandy soils of Herrenweg give the wine more power, finesse and a distinctive smoky mineral note compared to Pinot Gris from other Alsace soils.
