Barbaresco Montefico

バルバレスコ モンテフィコ

Carlo Giacosa

Nebbiolo

About this wine

A single-cru Barbaresco from 1.36 hectares of south-facing vines in the Montefico cru, farmed by the family since 1992. Grown at 180-230m on compact calcareous clay soils, the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with roughly 40 days of maceration and age for about three years in large oak casks, yielding a wine of intense fruit, spice, and firm structure.

Beginner's Note

A slightly richer, more fruit-forward single-cru expression than Ovello — an approachable way into cru-designated Barbaresco.

Sommelier's Note

"Montefico shows a rounder, more immediately generous side of Nebbiolo than Ovello — the cru to reach for when you want Barbaresco's power without waiting a decade."

Food Pairings

Ripe red fruit and spice notes make this a natural match for duck ragù pasta, roasted game birds, and hard aged cheeses.

When to drink it

Autumn and winter dinners centered on game, duck, or braised meats.
