Ca' Viola

Nebbiolo

About this wine

Ca' Viola's Langhe Nebbiolo, a blend from vineyard parcels in Montelupo Albese, fermented in temperature-controlled tanks with indigenous yeasts and matured 15-17 months in large oak casks. Known as 'Giblin' in earlier vintages, the wine was renamed 'Rangone' starting with the 2021 vintage — after the Counts Rangone of Montelupo Albese, the winery's historic home — and now carries special label artwork. Intense ruby red with garnet nuances, a bouquet of ripe red fruit (cherry, plum), violet, spice and a light touch of vanilla; elegant and austere on the palate with velvety tannins and a persistent, fruity finish.

Beginner's Note

An accessible way into Nebbiolo without the tannic weight of Barolo — elegant and food-friendly.

Sommelier's Note

"The most approachable expression of Nebbiolo in the range — proof the grape doesn't need decades in bottle to be worth drinking."

Food Pairings

A lighter Nebbiolo style suited to roast chicken, mushroom pasta, and mild aged cheeses.
