About this wine
Muga Reserva is the winery's flagship wine and the bottling most closely associated with the Muga name worldwide, produced in Reserva style every vintage since 1968. A blend led by Tempranillo (roughly 70-75%) with Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano, it undergoes long fermentation in oak vats without temperature control, followed by 24 months of ageing in barrels (mostly French oak alongside American oak) crafted in Muga's own cooperage, plus at least 12 months further ageing in bottle. Traditional techniques including egg-white fining are used throughout. The result is a classically structured, elegant Rioja with bright red and black fruit, notes of ground coffee, smoked paprika, cedar spice and dried herbs, framed by fine, polished tannins and a long, faintly savory finish. It was named Wine Spectator's 2025 Wine Value of the Year (2021 vintage).
The quintessential introduction to classic Rioja — approachable now but built to reward a few years in the cellar.

- It's led by Tempranillo, blended with Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano, all sourced from Muga's own and long-term partner vineyards in Rioja Alta.
- How long should Muga Reserva be aged?
- It drinks well on release but rewards 5-10 years of cellaring thanks to its structured tannins and traditional aging regime.
- Is Muga Reserva vegan-friendly?
- No — like most traditional Rioja producers, Muga fines the wine with egg whites, so it is not suitable for a strict vegan diet.

ムガ プラド・エネア グラン・レゼルバ
Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva
RedTempranillo · Garnacha · Mazuelo · Graciano
Prado Enea is the pinnacle of Bodegas Muga's production, representing the most traditional and elegant expression of Rioja. Sourced from the highest altitude vineyards, the grapes undergo a long, slow fermentation in oak vats without temperature control. The wine is aged for a minimum of 36 months in oak casks and at least 36 months in the bottle before release. It is characterized by its remarkable complexity, silky tannins, and exceptional aging potential, offering notes of red berries, spices, leather, and tobacco.
アロ
Aro
RedTempranillo · Graciano
Aro is the pinnacle of Bodegas Muga — a super-premium Rioja produced only in exceptional vintages when Graciano from the winery's oldest, highest-altitude vineyards achieves perfect ripeness. A plant-by-plant selection from six of Muga's finest parcels of old vines (60+ years), predominantly Tempranillo complemented by Graciano, Aro ferments spontaneously in 2,000-litre open-top oak vats with indigenous yeasts. It is aged for 16–18 months in new French oak barriques, handcrafted at the winery's own cooperage, followed by extensive bottle ageing before release. The result is a wine of profound complexity, formidable structure, and extraordinary longevity — vivid dark cherry, cassis, tobacco, clove, and eucalyptus on the nose, with a velvety yet powerful palate and a seemingly endless finish. Production is extremely limited (a few thousand bottles per vintage), making Aro one of Spain's most sought-after collectibles.
トーレ・ムガ
Torre Muga
RedTempranillo · Mazuelo · Graciano
Torre Muga was the winery's first modern-style red wine, launched with the 1991 vintage as a riper, more fruit-forward counterpart to the traditional Reserva and Gran Reserva bottlings. Sourced from higher-altitude vineyards (500-550m) on southwest-facing foothills in Rioja Alta, it is a blend of roughly 75% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo and 10% Graciano. The wine ages around 18 months in new French oak barriques from Allier, giving it a distinctive stamp of toast, coffee and dark chocolate over a core of ripe blackberry and black cherry. Powerful yet polished, with silky, well-integrated tannins and a very long finish, Torre Muga bridges Rioja tradition and modern winemaking.

Muga Selección Especial
RedTempranillo · Garnacha · Mazuelo · Graciano
Muga Selección Especial sits between the classic Reserva and the flagship Torre Muga and Prado Enea, made only in the best vintages from a stricter selection of grapes grown on Tertiary clay-limestone terraces at 430-450m. The blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano is aged around 26 months in barrels crafted at Muga's own cooperage — roughly six months in new French oak followed by two years in older French and American oak (about 70/30) — then clarified with egg white and rested in bottle for at least a year. Aromas of cassis and black raspberry mingle with graphite, violets, spicy wood and pencil-lead notes, leading to a medium-to-full-bodied palate with a round, layered texture and silky tannins — a fresher, more fruit-forward, modern-leaning expression than the classic Reserva.

Flor de Muga Blanco Reserva
WhiteViura · Garnacha Blanca · Maturana Blanca
Flor de Muga Blanco Reserva is Bodegas Muga's most ambitious white wine, a modern, Burgundian-inflected style Rioja Blanco made from Viura blended with roughly 30% each of Garnacha Blanca and Maturana Blanca, sourced from selected high-quality plots. Fermented and aged with lees contact and a portion of new oak, it shows notes of butterscotch, mandarin, lemon, lime and pink grapefruit, layered with cinnamon spice and faint toast. The palate is full, round and creamy with excellent purity, chalky minerality, and a long, fresh, citrus-laced finish supported by vibrant acidity — a serious, age-worthy expression of white Rioja.
