Podere Ritorti is one of I Luoghi's two Bolgheri Superiore crus, a Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend rounded out with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah from the estate's high-density plantings in Campo al Capriolo. As a Superiore, it undergoes longer aging in French oak than the estate's base Rosso, developing greater structure, depth, and aging potential while retaining the fresh, mineral-driven character typical of Bolgheri's coastal vineyards.
One of Bolgheri's under-the-radar Superiore crus — it delivers real concentration and aging potential without the price tag of the region's famous names.
New to wine?
A step up from the estate's entry Rosso — more concentrated and structured, best enjoyed with a short decant.
Food Pairings
Its structure and dark-fruit concentration call for grilled or roasted red meats, game, and aged hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano.
When to drink it
Special dinners, cellaring for a few years, pairing with red meat centerpieces
Terroir & Winemaking
A Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah, aged in French oak for longer than the estate's Bolgheri DOC Rosso, in line with Bolgheri Superiore DOC's extended-aging requirements, with further refinement in bottle before release.
