Vino Nobile di Montepulciano

ヴィーノ・ノービレ・ディ・モンテプルチアーノ

Avignonesi

Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese)

About this wine

Avignonesi's flagship wine and the estate's benchmark expression of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, made from 100% estate-grown Prugnolo Gentile (the local Sangiovese clone) farmed biodynamically. Aromas of ripe cherry, red plum and violet lead to a medium-bodied palate with silky tannins, lively acidity and notes of dried herbs, spice and tobacco. Aged around 18 months in a combination of large Slavonian oak casks and barriques.

Beginner's Note

An approachable, food-friendly introduction to Sangiovese-based Tuscan reds — structured but not overly tannic.

Sommelier's Note

"This is the wine that shows what biodynamic farming can do for Vino Nobile — pure, precise Sangiovese fruit without makeup."

Food Pairings

A classic match for Tuscan cuisine: bistecca alla fiorentina, wild boar ragù, and roasted lamb with rosemary. Its acidity also cuts through tomato-based pasta dishes.

When to drink it

Everyday fine dining, Tuscan-style dinners, gifting to wine enthusiasts new to Sangiovese
