Yamagata Sparkling Delaware Sweet is a sweet, sparkling white wine made from Delaware grapes grown in Asahimachi Wine's home prefecture of Yamagata, Japan's leading Delaware-growing region. Launched in April 2025 alongside a dry-style counterpart, it captures the grape's signature fruity, candy-like aromatics with a gentle, well-judged sweetness set off by fine, delicate bubbles and a light streak of acidity. Bottled in a 750ml format, it sits alongside Asahimachi Wine's Sparkling Rouge as one of the winery's newer sparkling releases, offering an easy-drinking, celebratory alternative to its still Delaware-based White.

Sommelier's Note

A rare sweet-style Delaware sparkling from Japan's top Delaware-growing region — a friendly, fruit-driven alternative for anyone who finds dry sparkling wines too austere.

New to wine?

An approachable, low-intimidation pick for sparkling wine beginners — its familiar grape sweetness and soft bubbles make it easy to enjoy without any wine knowledge required.

Food Pairings

The gentle sweetness and bubbles work well with fresh fruit, light desserts, and mild cheeses, and also complement sweet-glazed Japanese dishes such as teriyaki-style yakitori or tamagoyaki, where the wine's fruit-forward character echoes the dish's sweetness.

When to drink it

Celebratory toasts, casual gatherings, and as a dessert-time sparkling wine.

Terroir & Winemaking

Made from Delaware grapes sourced from Asahi Town, Yamagata Prefecture — the same variety used in Asahimachi Wine's still White — and finished as a sweet-style sparkling wine. Released in April 2025 as a sibling bottling to the winery's dry-style Yamagata Sparkling Delaware. Bottled in a 750ml format; contains sulfites (added as an antioxidant), standard for the winery's range.
