A single-vineyard Barolo from the celebrated Rocche dell'Annunziata cru in La Morra, one of the most storied crus in the entire Barolo zone. From a 0.8-hectare, southeast-facing parcel trained in classic Guyot, the wine ferments at around 34°C with gentle, frequent pumpovers and a long maceration of roughly 350 hours, then ages about 26 months in oak barrels and barriques plus 6 months in bottle. It shows a lush, fleshy nose of China Calissaia bark, pipe tobacco, dried flowers, plum and cedar, with fine structure and power smoothed by bright acidity — elegant, complex, and built for the cellar.
Rocche dell'Annunziata is one of the two or three greatest crus in all of Barolo, and Oberto's rendition captures its perfumed, dried-flower elegance better than bottlings twice the price.
