A single-vineyard Barolo from the Albarella cru in the commune of Barolo, from a densely planted, meticulously pruned 0.8-hectare parcel located just below the famous Cannubi vineyard, with which it shares a southwest exposure and clay soils. The wine offers a lush, fleshy nose of spice and dark chocolate over plush, forward fruit, with licorice and bright cola notes on the finish, fine tannins and a bright, juicy red-fruit core of poached and spiced red cherries and plums.
Sitting just below Cannubi, Albarella gives Oberto's Nebbiolo a plush, cola-and-cherry generosity that makes this the most instantly likeable of the estate's cru Barolos.
New to wine?
A juicier, more fruit-forward style of Barolo cru — a gentler entry into single-vineyard Nebbiolo.
Food Pairings
Pairs well with roasted duck, braised short rib, and spiced meat dishes; the cola and licorice notes echo well with kabayaki-style grilled eel.
When to drink it
Sunday roasts, celebratory dinners, pairing with spiced or braised dishes
Terroir & Winemaking
