A varietal expression of Pugnitello, an ancient native Tuscan grape (named for its fist-shaped cluster) that San Felice rediscovered and researched in collaboration with the universities of Florence and Pisa through its experimental Vitiarium vineyard. Velvety and deep ruby in color, it shows ripe red fruit, spice, cinnamon, clove, and tobacco leaf, fermenting 20-25 days on the skins and aging 18-20 months in French oak barriques plus 8 months in bottle.
This is the wine that proves San Felice's Vitiarium research is more than an academic exercise — Pugnitello stands on its own as a serious variety.
