Agricola Matteoli

Sangiovese · Merlot

About this wine

Agricola Matteoli's Chianti Classico DOCG is the estate's signature wine, grown on marl- and limestone-rich soils fully exposed to the sun around San Sano, in Gaiole in Chianti. The blend is roughly 85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot, trained on spurred cordon and Guyot systems at 380-400m altitude, and aged around 8 months in small oak barrels. It shows a bright ruby-to-garnet colour, a vinous nose of small berries from the undergrowth with floral notes of iris and violet, and a harmonious, dry, lightly tannic palate — a genuine, handcrafted expression of the family's Chianti hills.
