Mourvedre

About this wine

A 100% Mourvèdre rosé from Secateurs, Badenhorst's entry-tier range, made from old, dry-farmed bush vines planted in the 1950s-60s in the Swartland. Grapes are hand-picked before dawn to preserve freshness, whole-bunch direct-pressed, and left to settle overnight before spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks and large old foudres. The result is a serious, textured rosé with aromas of cranberry, redcurrant and wild rose, a mineral-driven palate, and a long, dry finish — closer in style to a fine white wine than a typical fruity rosé.

Beginner's Note

For those who think rosé is just a summer sipper — this one has the structure and depth to convert skeptics.

Sommelier's Note

"Forget what you think you know about rosé — Secateurs proves that 100% old-vine Mourvèdre can produce something as textured and food-worthy as a fine white."

Food Pairings

Its texture and dry finish make it a gastronomic rosé — pairs beautifully with vegetable tarts, salads, grilled fish, and roast chicken.

When to drink it

Warm-weather lunches, seafood dinners, and any occasion needing a rosé serious enough for the table.
