About this wine
Birei ("beautiful decree/order") is a dry rosé crafted by 8 Vineyard (New Yamanashi Wine Brewing) from specially selected, high-sugar Muscat Bailey A grapes grown in the Ninomiya district of Misaka Town, Fuefuki City, Yamanashi — around the historic Miwa Shrine vineyards. Made using only the clear, settled portion of the free-run juice, the wine is fermented and then aged in stainless steel tank for six months to preserve fruit purity and freshness. First produced in 2019 (the first year of the Reiwa era, from which the wine takes its name) and released on June 5, 2020, it pours a delicate, pure cherry-blossom pink and offers vivid strawberry aromas balanced by crisp, refreshing acidity — a clean, elegant expression of Japan's signature red grape in rosé form.
An approachable, easy-drinking dry rosé — its pale pink color and gentle strawberry aroma make it a friendly first step into Japanese rosé wine.
Sommelier's Note
"One of the more precise, purely-fruited dry rosés to come from Muscat Bailey A — its clarity of strawberry fruit and crisp finish show what careful juice selection can do with this workhorse Japanese grape."
Food Pairings
A versatile companion for light appetizers and Japanese cuisine: try it with sashimi, salt-grilled fish, or lightly seasoned tempura, where its crisp acidity cuts through richness and its strawberry notes echo delicate seafood sweetness.
When to drink it
Well suited to spring gatherings, hanami (cherry blossom viewing) picnics, and casual meals where a light, refreshing rosé is called for.

8ヴィンヤード 八千蔵 マスカット・ベーリーA 2022
8 Vineyard Yachikura Muscat Bailey A 2022
RedMuscat Bailey A
The flagship red of 8 Vineyard (8 vin-yard MISAKA), Yachikura Muscat Bailey A is sourced exclusively from vines over 60 years old in the Yachikura district of Misaka Town, Fuefuki City, Yamanashi — one of Japan's most storied grape-growing districts. Growers carefully limit the number of clusters per vine so that nutrients concentrate in each berry, and a portion of the juice is drawn off before fermentation (a saignée-style technique) to raise the ratio of skin contact, yielding a wine with deeper color than typical Muscat Bailey A. The 2022 vintage shows a vivid ruby hue, ripe red-berry and wild-strawberry aromas with a light floral lift, and a clean, well-balanced finish with moderate, well-integrated tannins — avoiding the overly sweet, candied character sometimes associated with the variety.
