Châteaumeillant is an AOC in the Loire Valley whose vineyards lie across seven communes in the Cher and Indre departments: Châteaumeillant, Saint-Maur and Vesdun in Cher, and Champillet, Feusines, Néret and Urciers in Indre. It was classified as an AOC in 2010, having previously held VDQS status. Gamay is the principal grape, with Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris as secondary varieties. The appellation produces red wines and "gris" wines, pale rosés made mainly from Gamay.
