Weingut Volk

ヴァイングート・フォルク

Family-run Mittelrhein estate on the steep slate slopes of Bopparder Hamm, built on Riesling.

About Weingut Volk

Weingut Volk is a family-run winery in Spay, at the double bend of the Rhine in the Mittelrhein region. Owned and managed by Jürgen Volk, a trained wine engineer, together with Heidi Volk, the estate has been in family hands for several generations — its ship's-wheel logo recalls a great-grandfather who once worked as a Rhine pilot. Volk farms 4.5 hectares of steep, slate-soil vineyards on the Bopparder Hamm, including the VDP-classified Ohlenberg site as well as Feuerlay, Weingrube and Fässerlay. About 90% of the plantings are Riesling, rounded out by Weißburgunder, Spätburgunder, Müller-Thurgau/Rivaner, Regent and the fungus-resistant Souvignier Gris — reflected in the estate's membership in PIWI Deutschland. Grapes are hand-harvested from the steep slopes and vinified using a blend of traditional and modern cellar techniques, alongside Winzersekt, fruit brandies and homemade preserves.
