Seba Rosso is VOTANO WINE's signature 'everything blend' red from the Seba district of Shiojiri, Nagano — a barrel-aged, dry field blend of Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on stony, mineral-rich alluvial soil along the Narai River. The exact blend ratio shifts every vintage depending on how each variety ripened that year, and in some vintages (e.g. 2023) the harvest was split into two distinct barrel lots released side by side as 'Seba Rosso-1' and 'Seba Rosso-2' — same cuvée name, same vineyard and vintage, but each lot fermented and blended separately with its own ratio (in 2023: Lot-1 was Merlot 56% / Syrah 44%; Lot-2 was Merlot 49% / Cabernet Franc 38% / Cabernet Sauvignon 5% / Pinot Noir 5% / Syrah 3%). The current (2024 vintage) release is a single unified lot: Cabernet Franc 42%, Syrah 38%, Merlot 14%, Cabernet Sauvignon 6%. Fermented with wild yeasts and unfiltered, it shows deep brick-red color, ripe berry aromatics from the Cabernet Franc base amplified by Syrah's assertiveness, and is recommended for 10+ years of bottle aging.

Sommelier's Note

VOTANO's 'everything blend' — Cabernet Franc's berry lift, Syrah's assertiveness, and Merlot's roundness compressed into one of Nagano's most cellar-worthy field blends. Don't touch it for a decade.

New to wine?

A bold, tannic red best suited to those who already enjoy full-bodied wine and don't mind waiting — this one rewards patience and a decade of cellaring.

Food Pairings

A structured, multi-layered red built for the long haul: pairs well with grilled or braised red meats, game, and hard aged cheeses that can stand up to its tannin and umami depth.

When to drink it

Special-occasion dinners with red meat or game, long cellaring projects, gifts for serious wine collectors.

Terroir & Winemaking

Barrel-aged, dry (ABV 12% in the 2024 vintage; historical vintages/lots range 12-13%). Field-blend philosophy: exact varietal ratio is decided each vintage by ripeness, and some vintages are split into separately-vinified lots (denoted -1/-2) with distinct blends rather than being a single fixed recipe. Wild-yeast fermentation, unfiltered. Recommended cellaring: 10+ years.
