Uchiko Winery (企業組合内子ワイナリー) is Ehime Prefecture's first winery, founded on November 1, 2010 in Uchiko, Kita District, by lifelong grape farmer Toshimichi Fujibuchi — who took on the challenge at age 70 after a visitor to his family's grape orchard suggested he try winemaking. Fujibuchi studied at Ehime University, a prefectural research station, and in France before establishing the cooperative winery. Rather than classic wine grapes, Uchiko Winery presses 100% locally grown table grapes — Muscat Bailey A, Kyoho, Pione, Rosario Bianco, and wild grape (yamabudou) — into its signature 'Uchiko Yume Wine' (内子夢わいん, 'Uchiko Dream Wine') range: crisp, fruity reds, whites, and a rosé, all handled by hand from harvest to bottling. The winery grew out of, and remains closely tied to, the long-running Fuji Budouen tourist grape orchard in the same valley, and its wines are sold through the winery's direct shop and online store as a symbol of Uchiko's grape-growing heritage.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Where is Uchiko Winery located, and is it really in Aichi Prefecture?
- No — Uchiko Winery is located in Uchiko, Kita District, Ehime Prefecture, on the island of Shikoku, not in Aichi Prefecture. The 'Uchiko' name refers to the historic town of Uchiko in Ehime (famous for the Uchiko-za kabuki theater), which is often confused with the similarly-named Aichi Prefecture elsewhere in Japan.
- Who founded Uchiko Winery and when?
- Uchiko Winery was founded as a cooperative (企業組合) on November 1, 2010 by Toshimichi Fujibuchi, a lifelong grape farmer who took up winemaking at age 70 after a customer at his family's grape orchard suggested he try it.
- What grape varieties does Uchiko Winery use?
- The winery uses 100% locally grown table grapes rather than classic wine varieties: Muscat Bailey A and wild grape (yamabudou) for reds, Pione and Rosario Bianco for whites, and Kyoho for its rosé.
- What is 'Uchiko Yume Wine'?
- Uchiko Yume Wine (内子夢わいん, 'Uchiko Dream Wine') is the winery's signature product line, named with the wish that people would enjoy the wine while sharing their dreams with family and friends.
