PRIMO SAKURA is the rosé bottling in Tsukuba Winery's "Primo" (プリモ) nouveau series — a set of wines made each year from that season's freshly harvested, Ibaraki-grown grapes and released, winery-only (no online sales), across a window running from the end of the year through cherry-blossom season. Made from 100% Muscat Bailey A grown on the granite-derived soils at the foot of Mount Tsukuba, it pours a pale pink that brightens further in the glass, carrying abundant fruit character on a light, delicate palate built to be approachable for wine newcomers. It debuted as a 350-bottle limited release that sold out quickly, then returned the next season in an expanded 600-bottle run priced at ¥2,860 (720ml, tax included), timed for hanami season, and has continued to reappear as a recurring seasonal release in the years since. It is a distinct, still, single-varietal rosé from the winery's other Muscat Bailey A cuvée, the sparkling SPARKLING Muscat Bailey A, and from the four-variety blend TSUKUBA ROSE.
A once-a-year, hanami-timed treat — this is the rosé to drink under the cherry blossoms, not to cellar.
New to wine?
A pale, fruit-forward, easy-sipping rosé built for wine beginners — the friendliest way to try the winery's seasonal Primo nouveau line.
Food Pairings
The pale, delicate rosé style and Muscat Bailey A's signature strawberry-candy fruit make it a natural match for light appetizers and sweeter or vinegared dishes — think prosciutto with melon, strawberry salads, or a fruit tart — as well as spring-picnic fare like sakura mochi and other cherry-blossom-season sweets.
When to drink it
Hanami (cherry-blossom viewing) picnics, spring gatherings, and casual toasts with friends.
