Toumu Winery is a family-run farm winery in the heart of Katsunuma, Koshu City, Yamanashi, and a founding anchor of the Katsunuma Wine Village cluster. It traces back to 2002, when a group of retired Tokyo Electric Power Company employees led by Eiichi Takano reclaimed an abandoned vineyard on the steep Toriidaira slope; the winery released its first vintage in 2007. Toumu grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Koshu on its own vineyard and vinifies everything on site in small lots — even its best-selling label sells fewer than 2,000 bottles a year — with a philosophy of dry wines meant to shine alongside food. Its Katsunuma Bijou Noir has been recognized at the Japan Wine Competition, and the winery also crafts a distinctive Koshu-brandy blend called 'Buranchu.' Toumu also runs a small on-site guesthouse, Wine no Yado Toumu.
