Kakizawa Merlot Section A is a single-vineyard Merlot from the 'A' block of Sun Sun Vineyard in the Kakizawa district of Shiojiri, Nagano, an estate plot at 840-864m elevation on a cool, well-ventilated slope. Made from 100% Merlot and aged 11 months in French oak, it offers aromas of blackberry, blueberry and nutmeg spice, with gentle, well-balanced tannins and a soft, approachable texture. It sits as the winery's standard Kakizawa Merlot bottling, one step below the limited-release Kakizawa Rouge Prestige.
