About Stark-Condé Wines
Stark-Condé Wines is a boutique winery in the Jonkershoek Valley of Stellenbosch, centered on the historic Oude Nektar farm that Hans and Midori Schröder acquired in 1989. In 1998, Hans's daughter Marie and her husband José Condé — a Cuban-American former graphic designer who discovered a passion for winemaking — founded the estate, naming it after Hans's mother's family name (Stark) and José's father, a Cuban émigré (Condé). Working high-altitude, cool-climate vineyards on granite and Table Mountain sandstone soils, the winery has built an international reputation for structured, terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, alongside a smaller range of white and other red wines.
