Koshu Pétillant is Sanyo Wine's cloudy, lightly sparkling white made from 100% Koshu grapes grown in Minami-Alps City, Yamanashi — in the 2024 vintage, sourced from the vines of a retiring grower as a tribute to their years of cultivation. The must is pressed after skin contact and bottled with no added sulfites, retaining a pronounced haze alongside a gentle natural fizz. Served well-chilled it shows crisp, bracing acidity; left to warm slightly, aromas of pineapple and yellow peach emerge alongside a complex, savory tannic grip. Earlier vintages (2022, 2023) used Koshu from other contracted Yamanashi growers and showed citrus and green-apple notes, underscoring how much this cuvée shifts from year to year.
The most textured and rustic of Sanyo Wine's Koshu bottlings — a hazy, savory pétillant built for grilled meats and cheese rather than a delicate aperitif sipper.
