Roccapesta is a leading estate in the Morellino di Scansano DOCG, located in the Macereto locality of Tuscany's Maremma region. The property dates back to 1974, but its modern identity took shape after 2003, when Alberto Tanzini — a former finance professional — left a career in London to take over the estate together with his brother Leonardo. Farming roughly 18-20 hectares organically, Roccapesta ferments with only indigenous yeasts and ages its wines in large-format barrels, aiming for elegant, long-lived expressions of Sangiovese (locally called Morellino). Through the collaborative 'Morello Project' with agronomist Pietro Pellegrini, the estate bottles single-vineyard crus such as Vigna Liuzza and Vigna I Gaggioli alongside its flagship Calestaia Riserva. Roccapesta has repeatedly earned Gambero Rosso's top Tre Bicchieri rating, and since June 2024 has been officially imported into Japan by Enoteca.
