Fulfulle Merlot is a single-varietal bottling from Pino Collina's casual, drink-often 'Fulfulle' line, grown on the historic Matsugaoka plateau in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. Unlike the blended Fulfulle Rouge (Merlot, Syrah, and Pinot Noir) and Fulfulle Rosé (Merlot and Syrah), this cuvée is 100% estate-grown Merlot, farmed without pesticides and vinified using Pino Collina's gravity-flow, minimal-intervention approach in keeping with its vin naturel philosophy. According to the winery, the wine shows a beautiful, deep hue with rich fruit aromatics and the silky smoothness characteristic of Matsugaoka fruit, delivering a full-bodied, richly textured red. It is distinct from the winery's separately labeled, oak-aged prestige Merlot bottling, positioning Fulfulle Merlot as an easygoing, food-friendly everyday red rather than a special-occasion showpiece.
