About Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé Nigori

Style
Rosé
Grape Varieties
Cabernet Sauvignon
Price Range
¥3,850-4,950

A dry, unfiltered rosé from Nasu Wine (Watanabe Vineyard Brewery), made from roughly 1,200kg of estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon using the saignée method. The bled-off juice is fermented slowly at a cool ~15°C with no additives, and the wine is bottled with its natural sediment (nigori) rather than being filtered clear, giving it a hazy, textured character and vivid rosé color.

Sommelier's Note

Don't mistake the cloudy nigori finish for simplicity — the saignée method from red-wine-grade Cabernet Sauvignon gives this rosé real backbone, making it one of the more food-friendly nigori rosés from Japan.

New to wine?

A great way to try Cabernet Sauvignon in a lighter, chillable format — more savory and structured than a typical fruity rosé.

Food Pairings

The saignée method gives this rosé more structure and grip than a typical pale rosé, so it pairs well with grilled chicken, pork dishes, charcuterie, and semi-hard cheeses, not just light salads.

When to drink it

Casual dinners, outdoor gatherings, and pairing with grilled or richly seasoned dishes

Terroir & Winemaking

Made via saignée (bleeding off free-run juice during red fermentation) from Cabernet Sauvignon, then fermented slowly at approximately 15°C with no additives and bottled unfiltered (nigori/cloudy style).

Frequently Asked Questions

What grape is Nasu Wine's Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé Nigori made from?
It is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown on Nasu Wine's own vineyards in Nasushiobara, Tochigi Prefecture, using the saignée method.
What does 'nigori' mean for this rosé?
Nigori means the wine is bottled unfiltered with its natural sediment, giving it a slightly cloudy appearance and fuller texture rather than being polished to full clarity.
Is this rosé sweet or dry?
It is a dry rosé. The juice is fermented slowly at a cool ~15°C with no additives, preserving fresh acidity rather than residual sweetness.
What food pairs well with this wine?
Its saignée-derived structure makes it a good match for grilled chicken, pork dishes, charcuterie, and semi-hard cheeses, as well as Japanese dishes like teriyaki or miso-glazed fish.
