Chanmoris Yamanashi Muscat Bailey A Nouveau is Morita Koshu Winery's seasonal shinshu (new-wine) red, made from 100% Muscat Bailey A grapes grown in Yamanashi Prefecture and certified under Japan's Geographical Indication for Yamanashi (G.I. Yamanashi). Released each autumn straight after harvest, it is a slightly light-bodied red built to showcase the grape's characteristic strawberry-and-berry aroma at its freshest, with soft tannins and a clean, easy-drinking finish.

Sommelier's Note

Muscat Bailey A's signature strawberry-and-berry perfume comes through vividly in this nouveau bottling -- a soft, low-tannin red that proves Japan's own grape can be just as charming fresh off the vine as Beaujolais Nouveau.

New to wine?

A soft, berry-scented introduction to Japan's own red grape -- light, fruity, and easy to enjoy with very little tannin.

Food Pairings

Its light body and sweet berry aroma make it a natural match for yakitori with a sweet-savory glaze, pork dishes like shogayaki, and Japanese home-style simmered dishes; it also pairs well with mild, semi-hard cheeses.

When to drink it

Autumn harvest celebrations, casual izakaya-style dinners, or a fruity red for those new to Japanese wine.
