The BOTTLE is MARO Wines' special-cuvée designation, reserved only for vintages when grape quality and winemaker Naoyuki Maro's instinct align perfectly — it is not produced every year. Its debut release is a Zweigeltrebe aged entirely in 100% new oak, a step up from the mostly old-barrel aging used for the SIGNATURE-line Zweigeltrebe from the same fruit source. Sold exclusively at the winery's cellar door and bottled with a distinctive cloth label, it layers dried berry and floral aromatics with baking spice and toasty oak, wrapped in fine tannin and a long, focused finish — built for slow drinking rather than everyday tables.

Sommelier's Note

The rare vintage where Maro decided his own Zweigeltrebe deserved 100% new oak — taste it and you'll understand why this name is not handed out every year.

New to wine?

A special-occasion step up — more oak-driven and structured than MARO's usual reds, best saved for a moment worth savoring.

Food Pairings

Pair with dishes that take a little extra preparation — slow-braised or marinated red meats, dishes with warm baking spice, or aged hard cheeses. Give it air and a bit more effort in the kitchen.

When to drink it

Special celebrations, milestone dinners, or any evening you want to slow down and pay attention to what's in the glass.

Terroir & Winemaking

Zweigeltrebe fruit from the same Yoichi source as the SIGNATURE bottling, aged entirely in 100% new oak barrels rather than the mostly old/neutral oak typically used — the first vintage released this way. Best from around 2026-2027 after some bottle age, though it can be opened earlier. Sold only at the winery's cellar door, not through wine shops or the online store.
