Tao Koshu Komazono is the flagship single-vineyard white of Komazono Vineyard, a small family estate in Enzan, Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. It is made from 100% Koshu grapes grown on the winery's oldest self-owned plot, Komazono, the field that gave the company its name and is home to own-rooted Koshu vines estimated at over 80 years old. Produced as a single-vineyard bottling since 2016, it belongs to Komazono's mid-tier "Tao" ("the Way") range, built on estate-grown fruit, and sits above the entry-level Pony series. Fermented at low temperature in stainless steel tanks with neutral yeast to let the site speak for itself, the wine shows Japanese citrus aromatics alongside rich fruit character, a mineral edge and well-balanced acidity, pairing equally well with Japanese and Western cuisine. It has been a consistent award winner at international wine competitions for six consecutive vintages since 2016, and the 2025 vintage received a Gold Medal at the Sakura Japan Women's Wine Awards 2026.
This is the wine that shows what Komazono's 80-year-old Koshu vines are capable of — more concentrated and mineral-driven than the entry-level Pony Koshu, and arguably the most reliable single-vineyard Koshu bottling in its price bracket, six-time competition winner and counting.
New to wine?

Food Pairings
A versatile food wine: its citrus-driven acidity and mineral core work well with sashimi and sushi, grilled white fish, tempura, and steamed chicken, while also standing up to lightly creamed Western dishes and soft cheeses.
When to drink it
A go-to bottle for a Japanese-cuisine dinner, a gift for wine lovers curious about single-vineyard Koshu, or an easy pairing partner at an izakaya or home-cooked meal.
