About Pony Caprice Blanc

Style
White
Grape Varieties
Sauvignon Blanc, Koshu, Chardonnay
Price Range
¥3,000-3,500

Pony Caprice Blanc is a white blend within Komazono Vineyard's entry-level Pony range, named for the French word "caprice" (whim) because the blend varieties and ratio are decided each vintage at the cellar master's discretion rather than following a fixed formula. The 2025 vintage blends Sauvignon Blanc, Koshu and Chardonnay grown in Yamanashi Prefecture in a 5:4:1 ratio, producing an aromatic, fruit-forward white wine distinct from the winery's Koshu-only Pony bottlings. It won the Silver Medal in the Blended White category at the Japan Wine Competition 2026 (日本ワインコンクール2026 ブレンド白部門).

Sommelier's Note

Proof that Komazono's Pony series isn't just about Koshu — this whimsically-blended white shows the winery's range, and its Japan Wine Competition 2026 silver medal confirms it's no afterthought.
