Enchante is Komaki Vineyard's inaugural release from its own on-site winery, Domaine Enchante, which opened in 2025 on the southern slopes of the Yatsugatake mountains in Kobuchisawa, Hokuto City, Yamanashi. A blend of organically farmed estate Merlot and Cabernet Franc, it is aged in new oak barrels, layering Merlot's ripe fruit character with Cabernet Franc's fine herbal lift and structure, while vanilla and spice notes from the new oak add complexity and a refined, lingering finish. It captures the terroir of Kobuchisawa with a balance of power and elegance that continues to evolve as it breathes in the glass.
This is the wine that marks Komaki Vineyard's arrival as a true estate producer — new oak gives it backbone today, but the fruit and structure suggest real aging potential ahead.
New to wine?
A fuller-bodied, oak-driven red best enjoyed with food rather than on its own — a good next step for those who already enjoy structured Bordeaux-style blends.
Food Pairings
The new-oak structure and Cabernet Franc's herbal spine call for richer fare: grilled or roasted red meat (lamb, beef short rib), duck breast, and aged hard cheeses like Comte or Gouda work especially well.
When to drink it
A milestone bottle worth marking an occasion with — the debut release from Komaki Vineyard's own winery, well suited to a special dinner or a gift for Japanese-wine enthusiasts.
