Taiko Yumetsuyu Wine Red is a dry red blend from Katashimo Wine Foods, Osaka's oldest winery, made from oak-barrel-aged Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Muscat Bailey A. The bottle was created to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Siege of Osaka, and its label reproduces the "Summer Siege of Osaka Screen" held by Osaka Castle Museum, making it a striking gift bottle. It is non-vintage and bottled at 720ml.

Sommelier's Note

A rare Japanese red blend built around Muscat Bailey A alongside Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon — the oak aging tames the tannins into something genuinely food-friendly, and the Siege-of-Osaka label makes it a conversation piece as much as a wine.

New to wine?

An approachable, medium-bodied dry red with gentle Muscat Bailey A sweetness on the nose — an easy everyday glass despite its dramatic history-themed label.

Food Pairings

Its balanced tannins and oak sweetness pair well with grilled or simmered dishes seasoned with miso or soy sauce, as well as dashi-based stews and hamburg steak.

When to drink it

A memorable gift for history and Osaka Castle enthusiasts, or a bottle to mark commemorative occasions and celebrations.

Terroir & Winemaking

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Muscat Bailey A, aged in oak barrels. Dry style, ABV 12%. Non-vintage, bottled at 720ml. Sediment or tartrate crystals may settle at the bottom of the bottle; this does not affect quality.
