Miyukihana Rosé is the flagship rosé of Iwanohara Vineyard, Japan's historic winery founded in 1890 in Joetsu, Niigata by Zenbei Kawakami, the 'Father of Japanese Wine.' Named after the delicate snow camellia that blooms through Joetsu's heavy winter snowfall, it is made from Muscat Bailey A — the signature grape Kawakami himself bred in 1927 — using brief skin maceration to draw out a vivid pink hue while keeping the wine fully dry. The result is a crisp, bone-dry rosé with vibrant strawberry and cherry aromatics and refreshing acidity, bottled in a limited annual production of around 7,000 bottles. It has repeatedly won gold and silver honors at the Sakura Japan Women's Wine Awards and medals at the Japan Wine Competition.

Sommelier's Note

Miyukihana Rosé proves Japanese rosé doesn't have to be sweet — its vivid Muscat Bailey A aromatics meet a crisp, cutting dryness that makes it one of Niigata's most versatile dinner-table wines.

New to wine?

A great entry point for those who assume rosé must be sweet — Miyukihana Rosé is fully dry, with an approachable pink color and food-friendly acidity that pairs easily with everyday Japanese dishes.

Food Pairings

The producer recommends pairing with Japanese comfort food such as oden and hot pot simmered in savory dashi broth, as well as fried dishes like tonkatsu and karaage fried chicken. Its crisp acidity also works well with charcuterie, grilled salmon, and light Mediterranean-style dishes.

When to drink it
