Yumeutsutsu ("Between Sleeping and Waking") is a 2024-vintage rosé from Horaisan Winery in Toyama, Japan, made from 100% estate-grown Merlot. Released in June 2025, it was designed as a lighter, crisper counterpart to the winery's signature Merlot rosé, Nekokaburi. Its aromatics shift as the wine warms in the glass, moving from bright red-berry notes toward soft floral tones — the dreamlike quality that gives the wine its name.
Where Nekokaburi shows Horaisan's Merlot at its richest, Yumeutsutsu shows the same grape at its lightest — a useful reference point for how much stylistic range one variety and one producer can cover.
New to wine?
Light, easy-drinking, and gently fruity — a friendly first step into Japanese rosé.
Food Pairings
Its light body and crisp acidity make it a natural match for delicate dishes rather than heavy or fatty ones: chilled tofu, grilled white fish, or a simple garden salad all work well. Serve well chilled.
When to drink it
Casual weeknight relaxation, light lunches, or picnics — an everyday bottle rather than a special-occasion wine.
Terroir & Winemaking
Made from 100% estate-grown Merlot harvested in Toyama Prefecture. Bottled at 720ml, 12% ABV. Vinified for a lighter, crisper rosé profile than the winery's Nekokaburi, which is fermented for a drier, fuller style from the same variety.
