About this wine
Nenrin is Hakodate Winery's original, signature table wine, launched in 1972 the same year the company was founded, and still sold today with its iconic tree-ring (nenrin) label design unchanged since release. It comes in two versions: a crisp, dry Nenrin Blanc based on Sauvignon Blanc blended with imported wine, and a medium-bodied Nenrin Rouge blending Hokkaido-grown Seibel grapes with imported wine, offering exotic spice aromas and a firm, comfortable tannin structure. Affordably priced and widely sold at department stores, hotels, and airports across Hokkaido, Nenrin has become the archetypal Hakodate wine souvenir.
An easy-drinking, affordable everyday wine and Hakodate's classic souvenir bottle for over 50 years.
Sommelier's Note
"Nenrin is less a single wine than a Hakodate institution — the unchanged tree-ring label has marked the winery's entry-level table wine since its founding year of 1972, making it the most recognizable souvenir bottle from Hokkaido's wine country."
Food Pairings
Nenrin Rouge pairs well with cured meats like prosciutto and with Hokkaido's Genghis Khan (jingisukan) grilled lamb, while Nenrin Blanc is a versatile match for seafood and lighter dishes.
