Fusen Hanataba ("balloon bouquet") is a lightly sparkling rosé from Hakko Chaud (formerly Domaine Chaud), made from 100% Campbell Early grapes grown in a contracted vineyard in the Kamikitaya district of Mitsuke City, Niigata. After destemming and a brief period of skin contact for color and aromatics, the juice is pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks, then bottled to undergo a natural secondary fermentation that builds its gentle mousse. Left unfiltered and unfined with no added sulfites, it pours a pale cherry-pink hue with a light haze from the lees, offering sweet, grapey Campbell aromatics, bright acidity, and a soft, faintly sweet finish carried by the sediment - as light and playful as its name suggests.
A joyful, unmistakably Niigata expression of Campbell Early - proof that low-intervention winemaking can be both playful and precise.
