Riesling from the 35-hectare Altenberg de Bergheim Grand Cru, a stony, shallow, fossil-rich red marl-limestone site in the neighboring village of Bergheim. Intense and distinctive on the nose with citrus, grapefruit, and white peach; beautifully balanced, mineral, and long on the palate.
Altenberg de Bergheim's red marl gives this Riesling a grapefruit-and-stone-fruit vividness that stands apart from Ribeauvillé's more austere village Grand Crus.
