About this wine
A rare and prestigious cru bottling from Cavalier Bartolomeo, sourced from vines within the San Lorenzo sub-zone of the historic Cannubi hill in the commune of Barolo — one of the smallest of the five legally recognized Cannubi sub-zones, at roughly 2.5 hectares in total. Made from a field mix of Nebbiolo clones (Michet, Lampia and Rosé), only about 1,200 bottles are produced each year. The wine shows a deep garnet red color with an intense, ethereal, fruit-driven bouquet, and a dry, robust yet velvety palate with firm but polished tannins, notes of red rose, dried cherry, licorice, nutmeg and dried herbs, and a long mineral-tinged finish. It has excellent aging potential, typically drinking well for 15-20+ years from vintage.
Not a first Barolo to try — this is a collector's cru bottling best appreciated after some Barolo experience.
Sommelier's Note
"One of the most under-the-radar Cannubi bottlings on the market — Cavalier Bartolomeo's tiny San Lorenzo parcel delivers the perfume and precision of a top Barolo cru at a fraction of the price its neighbors command."
Food Pairings
Best suited to rich, slow-cooked dishes: braised beef cheek in red wine reduction, osso buco, roast game, or truffle-laced pasta and risotto that can stand up to its tannin and depth.

Terroir & Winemaking
100% Nebbiolo (field blend of Michet, Lampia and Rosé clones) from a roughly 4-hectare family holding within the 2.5-hectare San Lorenzo sub-zone of the Cannubi cru, Barolo commune. Extremely limited production (~1,200 bottles/year); vinified and aged using the same temperature-controlled fermentation and barrique/tonneau regime as the estate's other Barolo, with additional time in bottle before release given the cru's aging potential.

バルベーラ・ダルバ
Barbera d'Alba
RedBarbera
A 100% Barbera bottling from Cavalier Bartolomeo's vineyards surrounding the Barolo zone, made under the Barbera d'Alba DOC. Grown alongside the estate's Nebbiolo in the hills of Castiglione Falletto, this Barbera takes on a powerful, concentrated character typical of Barbera d'Alba compared to its lighter Asti counterpart. The wine is ruby red, dry and limpid, with an intense, complex bouquet of wild berries — especially cherry — alongside notes of currant and vanilla. On the palate it is well-rounded, dry and warm, with the naturally high acidity that makes Barbera such a versatile food wine.
バローロ アルテナッソ
Barolo Altenasso
RedNebbiolo
Cavalier Bartolomeo's flagship Barolo, sourced from a roughly 3-hectare parcel in the Altenasso vineyard in the hills of Castiglione Falletto, planted mainly to Nebbiolo on calcareous marl soils at around 180m elevation with southwest exposure. About 9,000 bottles are produced annually. Fermentation is temperature-controlled with extended maceration on the skins, followed by aging in a combination of barrique and larger tonneaux (mostly used wood) before further refinement in bottle. The wine shows garnet red color with orange reflections that deepen with age, and an intense, layered bouquet of blueberry, black plum, candied orange peel, dried almond and light wood spice. On the palate it is dry, warm and still firmly tannic when young, well structured with a persistent, slightly bitter finish.
ドルチェット・ダルバ
Dolcetto d'Alba
RedDolcetto
Cavalier Bartolomeo's 100% Dolcetto bottling under the Dolcetto d'Alba DOC, grown in the hills around Castiglione Falletto using updated vineyard practices — careful pruning, thinning and harvesting — paired with controlled fermentation in the cellar. Despite Dolcetto's reputation as a lighter, everyday wine, this bottling shows notable structure, with present tannins and nose notes of oak and dark fruit. It is the most immediately drinkable wine in the estate's range, meant to be enjoyed young.
ランゲ・ネッビオーロ トラッサ
Langhe Nebbiolo Trassa
RedNebbiolo
Cavalier Bartolomeo's 100% Nebbiolo bottling under the more accessible Langhe DOC, named 'Trassa'. The grapes macerate on the skins for about 8-10 days in temperature-controlled tanks before aging in 500-liter tonneaux for around six months, followed by further refinement in bottle. It shows a ruby red color, an intense, fresh and vinous nose with floral notes recalling wild rose alongside fresh red fruit, and a properly tannic yet soft and fresh palate with a full-bodied, persistent finish — offering a more immediate expression of the estate's Nebbiolo character than its Barolo bottlings.
ランゲ・ロッソ アンファン
Langhe Rosso Enfant
RedNebbiolo · Dolcetto · Barbera
A blend of Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera under the Langhe Rosso DOC, carrying the name 'Enfant' in honor of a 1930 youth wine competition in Brussels where the Borgogno family's wine won three medals and a certificate. The wine has a deep ruby red color with garnet reflections that intensify with age, and a gentle, delicate bouquet recalling raspberry and violet that gains strength and refinement over time. On the palate it is dry, full-bodied and properly tannic when young, becoming velvety and harmonious with a little age — an approachable expression of the estate's three signature Piedmont varieties in a single bottle.
