About this wine

Vigneto La Casuccia is a single-vineyard Gran Selezione grown on clay-limestone soils at roughly 469-495 metres altitude, blending about 80% Sangiovese with 20% Merlot. It is produced only in the best vintages, in extremely limited quantities of around 5,000-7,000 bottles. The wine is intense and profound, layered with red berry fruit, tobacco, liquorice, and mint, showing crushed rose petal and blackcurrant character with silky, enveloping tannins — energetic in youth and built to gain complexity with age.

Beginner's Note

Slightly more fruit-forward and floral than Bellavista, making it a good entry point into Castello di Ama's top-tier single-vineyard wines.

Sommelier's Note

"La Casuccia is the most perfumed and sensual of Castello di Ama's Gran Selezione trio — where Bellavista is mineral and San Lorenzo is precise, Casuccia seduces with fruit and florals."

Food Pairings

Pairs beautifully with braised meats, wild boar ragù, aged Tuscan pecorino, and dishes built around porcini mushrooms.

When to drink it

Anniversary dinners, gifting to serious wine lovers, or a highlight bottle for a Chianti Classico vertical tasting.
