Castello dei Rampolla

Merlot

About this wine

A 100% Merlot bottling with an inaugural vintage in 2018, Liù is Rampolla's newest addition to the range. Dense and saturated, it shows new leather, menthol, cassis and cured meat on the nose, with a full-bodied palate of blackberry jam, marasca cherry and star anise, wrapped in polished, enveloping tannins and lifted by fresh acidity.

Beginner's Note

A plush, approachable single-varietal Merlot — a softer entry point than Rampolla's Cabernet-based wines.

Sommelier's Note

"A newer face in Rampolla's lineup, but no less serious — plush Merlot fruit with the same biodynamic precision as the estate's icons."

Food Pairings

Its plush fruit and polished tannins suit braised beef, duck breast, and dishes with a touch of sweetness such as balsamic reductions; also pairs well with yakiniku-style grilled beef.

When to drink it
