Barbaresco Riserva Roccalini

バルバレスコ・リゼルヴァ・ロッカリーニ

Cascina Roccalini

Nebbiolo

About this wine

The estate's Riserva bottling from the Roccalini cru, made only in strong vintages since Paolo Veglio's first Riserva in 2010. It undergoes the same spontaneous fermentation and cappello sommerso maceration as the standard Barbaresco Roccalini but is aged longer, resulting in a deeper, more structured wine built for the cellar.

Beginner's Note

A serious, age-worthy Barbaresco — best approached after trying the standard Roccalini bottling first.

Sommelier's Note

"Made only when the vintage deserves it — this Riserva is Paolo Veglio's statement that Roccalini can age as gracefully as any grand cru."

Food Pairings

Best with rich, slow-cooked dishes — braised game, truffle-scented risotto, or long-aged Parmigiano Reggiano — and worth cellaring for several years before opening.

When to drink it

Cellar-worthy special occasions, milestone celebrations, fine dining

Bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfites (approx. 25-30 mg/l).

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Riserva differ from the standard Barbaresco Roccalini?
It's made only in strong vintages and undergoes a longer aging regime in large Slavonian oak, giving it more depth and structure suited to extended cellaring.
When was the first Riserva Roccalini released?
Paolo Veglio released his first Riserva bottling from the 2010 vintage.
How long can this wine be cellared?
Given its firm tannic structure, well-stored bottles from strong vintages can age gracefully for a decade or more.
What occasions suit this wine?
It suits celebratory dinners, fine dining, and pairing with rich, slow-cooked dishes like braised game or truffle risotto.
