Koshu Macerazione is Casa Watanabe's orange wine made from 100% Koshu grapes sourced in Koshu City, Yamanashi. The must is fermented together with its skins for about one month, producing a dry orange wine with a distinctive astringency that sets it apart from the winery's other Koshu bottlings, K puro and K la selezione privata. Both a 2024 vintage and a 2025 vintage have been released; the wine is bottled at 11% ABV in 720ml bottles and is best enjoyed chilled, in the style of a rosé.

Sommelier's Note

A rare Japanese take on skin-contact Koshu — its light but distinct tannic grip, chilled and treated like a rosé, makes it an easy bridge into orange wine.

New to wine?

A friendly entry point into orange wine — Koshu's crisp base plus gentle skin-contact tannins, best served chilled like a rosé.

Food Pairings

The winery recommends enjoying it chilled in a rosé style, pairing well with a wide range of dishes; its skin-contact tannins also stand up to grilled or marinated dishes and aged cheeses.

When to drink it

Casual dinners, izakaya-style spreads, or as an approachable orange wine to introduce guests to skin-contact styles.

Terroir & Winemaking

Koshu grapes grown in Koshu City are fermented on their skins for approximately one month (maceration), giving the wine its amber hue, dry palate, restrained acidity, and light tannic astringency compared to the winery's non-macerated Koshu wines. Bottled at 11% ABV, 720ml. Vintages released include 2024 and 2025; the 2025 vintage is priced at ¥2,728 (tax included) and the 2024 vintage at ¥2,277 (tax included) per the producer's official online shop.
