Casa Baricalino

Nebbiolo

About this wine

Casa Baricalino's flagship Barolo DOCG is produced from 100% Nebbiolo (Michet biotype) grown in the estate's Novello vineyards at roughly 400 meters altitude on clay-rich marl soils. Fermented with about 15 days of skin maceration in stainless steel, the wine is then aged 24 months in small oak barrels followed by a further 12 months in bottle before release — well beyond the DOCG's mandatory 38-month minimum. The result is a ruby-to-garnet wine with an intense bouquet of spice and underbrush, firm tannins, and the structured, age-worthy character typical of Novello, one of the eleven Barolo communes.

Beginner's Note

A structured, traditional introduction to Barolo from a lesser-known but serious Novello producer.

Sommelier's Note

"A boutique Novello Barolo that over-delivers on structure for its size — the 24-month oak regime gives it real cellaring potential."

Food Pairings

Pairs beautifully with braised red meats, game, truffle-based dishes, and aged Piedmontese cheeses such as Castelmagno.

When to drink it

Special dinners, celebrations, and occasions calling for a serious, age-worthy red.
