Barolo "Mantoetto"

バローロ「マントエット」

Cantina Fracassi

Nebbiolo

About this wine

Cantina Fracassi's flagship wine, sourced exclusively from the two-hectare Mantoetto vineyard in Cherasco — the only site within the Cherasco commune classified for Barolo DOCG, effectively a monopole. The vineyard's limestone-marl soils give the Nebbiolo unusual finesse and tension. Following historic Piedmontese tradition, the wine is aged for four years in large Slavonian oak botti, well beyond the DOCG's minimum requirement, developing notes of dried cherry, rose, licorice and forest floor.

Beginner's Note

A traditionalist's Barolo — structured and savory rather than fruit-forward, best approached after decanting.

Sommelier's Note

"The only Barolo made within the commune of Cherasco — a genuine monopole that old-school Barolo lovers should not overlook."

Food Pairings

Classic Barolo pairings: tajarin pasta with butter and white truffle, braised beef in Barolo (brasato al Barolo), and aged hard cheeses like Castelmagno or Gorgonzola.

When to drink it

Special occasion dinners, cellar wine for aging, truffle season.
