About this wine

Added to the Roda range in 1998, Cirsion is the winery's deluxe cuvée, sourced from selected old-vine parcels (60+ years) whose grapes are hand-selected bunch by bunch. It ferments in oak vats at controlled temperature and ages just 6-8 months in new French oak — the shortest of any Roda wine — challenging the idea that highly concentrated Tempranillo needs extended oak aging. The result is a complex, deep wine with violet, blue and black fruit, hot-stone minerality, and seamless, satin-like tannins.

Beginner's Note

A splurge-worthy trophy wine rather than an everyday bottle — best appreciated once you already know Roda's other cuvées.

Sommelier's Note

"Cirsion is one of modern Rioja's most collectible reds — living proof that great old-vine Tempranillo needs remarkably little oak to shine."

Food Pairings

Best suited to richly flavored dishes such as wagyu beef, roasted game, and aged hard cheeses that can match its concentration and structure.

When to drink it

Terroir & Winemaking

Fruit hand-selected bunch by bunch from vines over 60 years old; ferments in oak vats at controlled temperature and ages only 6-8 months in new French oak — deliberately short to let fruit purity lead over oak influence.
