Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé

ビルカール・サルモン ブリュット・ロゼ

Billecart-Salmon

Chardonnay · Pinot Noir · Pinot Meunier

About this wine

Widely regarded as a benchmark rosé Champagne, Billecart-Salmon's Brut Rosé is built from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, with a portion of red wine (vinified still, from Pinot Noir grown in the house's home village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ) blended in to achieve its precise, luminous salmon-pink color — a technique the house pioneered and refined. Aged around 36 months on lees with an Extra Brut-leaning dosage of roughly 7 g/L, it shows a pale, glowing pink hue with delicate, persistent bubbles. The nose offers wild strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant, and citrus zest with subtle floral and brioche notes; the palate is creamy yet precise, evolving toward strawberry and a refreshing, persistent finish. It set the template that many other rosé Champagnes are still measured against.

Beginner's Note

One of the most approachable and widely respected rosé Champagnes — a great first rosé for anyone new to pink bubbles.

Sommelier's Note

"This is the rosé Champagne other producers still get compared to — precise, luminous, and endlessly food-friendly rather than sweet or heavy."

Food Pairings

A classic match for fine charcuterie, grilled salmon, and shellfish; its crisp acidity and refined mousse make it an excellent partner for salmon sashimi and other delicate raw fish preparations.

When to drink it

Celebrations, romantic dinners, gifting, and pairing with seafood or strawberry desserts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé so well regarded?
It is often cited as a reference-point rosé Champagne thanks to its precise, luminous salmon-pink color and its balance of delicate red-fruit character with crisp, food-friendly acidity — a style the house helped pioneer.
How is the pink color achieved?
It is made by blending a small proportion of still red wine — Pinot Noir grown in the house's home village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ — into the base Chardonnay/Pinot Noir/Pinot Meunier blend.
What food pairs well with Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé?
It pairs beautifully with salmon (raw or grilled), shellfish, fine charcuterie, and strawberry-based desserts.
Is it sweet?
No — with a dosage of around 7 g/L it leans toward Extra Brut and is quite dry, with the fruit character coming from the wine itself rather than added sweetness.
